Anne & Steven’s Halloween Wedding at Swan Harbor Farm

Every year, Anne and Steven always go all out throwing a Halloween party. This year, they had their wedding on Halloween weekend instead! Their colors, details, and ceremony were very classy and fall themed, but they surprised their guests with Halloween themed details at the reception. Each place setting had a mask for the guests as a party favor, and their wedding cake was topped with Frankenstein’s monster dancing with his Bride – it was too cute! Plus, it was even a full moon! It was truly the perfect wedding for this Halloween loving couple.

Is it better to take film wedding photos or digital?

I wouldn’t say that one is better than the other. In my opinion, I recommend adding wedding film photography to your digital photography package! Many couples like digital photography because they can receive hundreds of photos that intentionally documents their wedding day, but film is able to take the depth of your wedding photos one step farther with its warmth and nostalgia. For Anne and Steven, they now have a variety of wedding photos that evokes the different feelings and memories of their wedding day.

The Difference Between Beautiful Wedding Film and Digital Wedding Photos

To look at the direct differences between a film photo and a wedding photo, here is a side-by-side example! The photos are moments apart from each other at the same location. The film photo on the left pulls more of the nostalgic colors and style of the specific brand of film. The lighting, focus, and composition is decided in the moment of using my manual film camera settings. And the exact way it turns out is thanks to Coastal Film Lab in Tampa, Florida where I develop my film! As you can see, film is a team effort.

On the right, with a digital photograph, you can change and edit so much post-wedding day. Camera settings, lighting, and composition are all still very important while shooting these moments, but there is still so much that I can tweak and change for hours after the wedding day. The editing style comes down to the artistry of the photographer rather than the brand of film, camera, photographer, and developer combo. Would you add film photography for your wedding?
