How to Prepare for Your Beach Family Photography Session

When you’re planning a beach photoshoot, you’re going to want to make sure that you have everything prepared! Especially when it’s a beach family photography session, you’re going to want to feel confident that you have everything ready to go, so you can enjoy your time instead of being stressed. Check out this blog post to make sure you have all the essentials!

Here’s the Number One Thing You Need to Keep in Mind for a Smooth Beach Family Photos

Since it can get a bit wild during a family session, here’s how you can eliminate some of that stress! Let your kids run the show! Instead of trying to pose them and get forced smiles, we’ll follow the lead of your kids. Everyone will be more at ease, and you’ll get candid moments with your family! Like little Elsie during this beach family photography session, we followed her lead and looked at shells and played in the water! Aren’t their family photos adorable?

My Approach for Your Beach Family Session

When it comes to shooting on the beach in Florida, a part of the process is seeing the surroundings and watching the light to capture you in the best spots. My approach is to pose you and get perfect shots, but with kids, I love letting them run the session. I’m always prepared to go with the flow! I always tell my clients that if I’m not saying anything, that means whatever you’re doing is great! I’m just focusing on capturing your intentional moments for candid photos.

3 Things You Should Have Prepared for Your Beach Family Photography Session

1. Bring an Extra Pair of Clothes!

Since you’re at the beach, you’re probably going to get wet! Make sure your extra outfit is still one you’d want some pictures in just in case you get soaked early on in the session. Plus, you’re going to want dry clothes for your ride home! For this same reason, you’re also going to want to bring towels and an extra pair of shoes!

2. Have an Assistant!

If you’re worried that your kids might run off or try to jump into the water when they’re not supposed to, an assistant is there to save the day. Plus, they can help with the kids so you can get a few couple photos, and they can help keep the kids in a good mood! I always bring an assistant with me to maternity family sessions, and they help the session run so smoothly!

3. Bring a Good Attitude!

Remember that you’re at the beach. You can get wet, it can be windy, and sometimes you might have to wait for people to move out of the way. Especially with little kids, you’re going to have to be flexible and have a good attitude if you want to have a fun time!
